Your session includes an assessment of joint range-of-motion, strength, flexibility, breath, and how these relate to yoga poses. An overview of all 26 poses of the Hot 26 series takes 2 sessions but can also be compressed into one. Other special sessions can be arranged to focus on sun salutations, core strengthening or arm balances while still touching on so many other aspects that will show when you have a teacher only for yourself. You will come out amazed at how much you learned about your body and the practice and excited to get back on the mat.
3. HEALING AN INJURY
Centuries before Western medicine started turning to physical therapy, doctors in India used yoga to heal the human body from an astonishing number of ailments. However, yoga can be a double-edged sword for any injury: while one pose may be great for your back, the next one may be the worst thing you can do. Because the human body is so complex, the variance is not just from pose to pose but also from person to person: the pose that may heal his back pain may actually make your worse. In these sessions, we start by carefully examining the problem. We can then either offer a sequence of poses based on the time you have in your life that is to do on your own or under our supervision, or we can teach you how to modify the poses when you take our group classes which is a more affordable option than ongoing private instruction and usually more effective than practicing on your own. If ever there is a good reason to seek one on one attention – this is it! You must take care of yourself and you must learn how to!
